Climate
Vietnam has a diverse climate that changes from North to South. The North has four seasons, Central Vietnam is sunny but can experience storms, and the South stays warm year-round. Light clothing is suitable for most trips, but bring layers for mountain areas and a raincoat during rainy season.
Public Transport
Vietnam is easy to explore by domestic flights, trains, buses, private cars and speedboats. Major cities such as Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City connect well to popular destinations. Within cities, taxis, ride-hailing apps, local buses and walking are convenient options for travelers.
Internet
Internet access is widely available throughout Vietnam, especially in major cities and tourist destinations. Most hotels, cafés, restaurants and shopping malls offer free Wi-Fi. For countryside routes, mountain areas, islands or long road trips, visitors should prepare a local SIM card or eSIM for better connection.
Money
The official currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND). Credit cards are accepted in many hotels, restaurants and shopping centers, but cash is still important for local markets, street food, taxis, small shops and entrance fees. Travelers should exchange money at trusted banks or official currency exchange counters.
Shopping
Vietnam offers a rich shopping experience, from modern malls to traditional markets and artisan villages. Visitors can buy silk, lacquerware, coffee, tea, ceramics, lanterns, handicrafts, dried fruits and local snacks. Bargaining is common in traditional markets, while fixed prices are more common in malls and boutiques.
Medical Information
Vietnam has public hospitals, private clinics and international medical centers in major cities. Medical services in remote areas, mountains or islands may be more limited, so travel insurance is recommended. In an emergency, call 115 or ask your hotel to contact the nearest hospital or medical support service.
