Day 01 - Hanoi Arrival and City Soul
Xin chao! Welcome to Hanoi. Your journey begins with a welcome meeting at 6:00 pm at your hotel, followed by a group dinner at KOTO Restaurant, an organisation dedicated to developing hospitality careers for disadvantaged youth. If you arrive early, there is plenty to discover in this captivating city. You could join the Hanoi Street Food Experience with Urban Adventures and savour Vietnamese cuisine like a local, relax by Hoan Kiem Lake, or wander through the Old Quarter to admire its French-influenced architecture and lively shopping streets. Then, perhaps, enjoy a cold beer and a banh mi at a bustling street corner.

Day 02 - Hanoi to Ha Long Bay
Travel by private minibus to UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ha Long Bay, where sandy coves, grottoes and 1,600 limestone islands have been shaped over millennia by wind and water. Board a private boat and cruise through the bay, exploring caves and beaches along the way. You may also choose an optional kayaking tour for a different perspective on the bay's remarkable natural scenery. As evening settles in, unwind aboard beneath the night sky, perhaps with a drink at the restaurant bar while getting to know your fellow travellers a little better.

Day 03 - Ha Long Bay - Hanoi - Night Train to Hue
Wake to the calm waters of Ha Long Bay and perhaps watch the sunrise as eagles soar overhead. Then return to Hanoi by bus and enjoy a free afternoon before tonight's train journey. While in the city, be sure to savour a bowl of pho, the much-loved local speciality made with broth, noodles and meat. You may also wish to relax by Hoan Kiem Lake before boarding the overnight train to Hue this evening.

Day 04 - Hue - Imperial City - Village Recycling Hub
Arrive in Hue this morning and transfer to your hotel. Once the imperial capital of Vietnam, Hue preserves the treasures of the country's royal past. Visit a local village recycling hub dedicated to addressing environmental challenges through recycling, and while you are there, try the local speciality: salt coffee. In the afternoon, explore the war-damaged ruins of the Imperial Citadel, a sprawling city-within-a-city containing the remains of temples, state houses and the emperor's palace.

Day 05 - Hue - Royal Tomb of Tu Duc - Thien Mu Pagoda
Experience Hue like a local today - from the back of a motorbike. Ride through the city with a local guide, taking in both historic and contemporary sights along the way. Stop at Thanh Toan to see the 18th-century covered bridge and villagers shopping at their local market. Continue to Thien Mu Pagoda, an active 17th-century Buddhist monastery, and see the car that belonged to Thich Quang Duc, the monk who self-immolated in 1963 in protest against the treatment of Buddhists by the South Vietnamese regime. For lunch, enjoy a vegetarian feast in a nunnery. Finish at the lakeside royal tomb of Emperor Tu Duc before heading back to town.

Day 06 - Hue - Hoi An - Old Town
This morning, travel by bus through coastal rice paddies and across the spectacular Hai Van Pass, pausing for a photo along the way. Arrive in Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a former international trading port that flourished during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Today, much of this beautifully preserved town still carries the atmosphere of centuries past. Hoi An is also a favourite destination for shopping, particularly for its many tailors. On arrival, your leader will take you on a sightseeing walk through the Old Town, visiting a selection of the city's major attractions. You will also receive a sightseeing pass so you can explore selected attractions further at your own pace.

Day 07 - Hoi An - Free Day
Today is yours to explore Hoi An at your own pace. Wander the cobbled streets and art galleries, or hire a bicycle and ride through rice paddies towards Cua Dai Beach. Browse the town's markets and preserved Chinese shophouses for paintings, ceramics and colourful cloth lanterns. If you are looking for something made just for you, visit one of Hoi An's hundreds of tailors for a custom-made outfit. Hoi An is also known for its delicious regional cuisine, so you could enjoy dinner at a riverside restaurant or take part in a cooking class.

Day 08 - Da Nang - Flight to Ho Chi Minh City - City Tour
Today, take a short early-morning flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Formerly known as Saigon, the city has a fascinating history and is widely regarded as Vietnam's centre of commerce and culture. After landing, explore the city by bus, passing the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Opera House before stopping at the War Remnants Museum to discover some of the sobering stories of the 20-year-long Vietnam/American War.

Day 09 - Ho Chi Minh City - Mekong Delta
This morning, set out on a day trip to explore the Mekong Delta. Board a private boat to Ben Tre to visit the coconut gardens, then stop at a local home to sample tropical fruits and coconut jams. Afterwards, paddle in a sampan (a small rowing boat) past coconut trees along the Mekong Delta. Continue by tuk-tuk through the villages and learn about rural life and the industries built around coconut products, including brooms and coconut-fibre mats. Enjoy lunch at a restaurant in the heart of the Delta, sampling regional specialities such as elephant ear fish. Afterwards, return to Ho Chi Minh City and perhaps share dinner with your fellow travellers to celebrate a memorable journey.

- Once the final itinerary has been confirmed by both parties, any subsequent changes are subject to La Passion Travel's approval and availability.
- 15 days or more before departure: Changes can be made without a modification fee. A revised final itinerary will be provided accordingly.
- Less than 15 days before departure: La Passion Travel reserves the right to decline changes. Any additional costs resulting from requested changes will be charged to the customer.

The itinerary already includes a vegetarian lunch at a Buddhist nunnery in Hue. Other arrangements will depend on the destination and venue, so we recommend confirming any strict requirements with La Passion Travel in advance.
What should I pack for Vietnam?
Pack light, breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes and a light rain layer. A scarf or an outfit that covers the shoulders and knees will be useful when visiting pagodas, monasteries and historical sites.
We also recommend sun protection and a smaller overnight bag for the Ha Long Bay cruise and night train to Hue. The journey includes city walks, a motorbike experience, boat trips and time in rural areas, so choose pieces that feel comfortable across different settings.
What’s the pace of the itinerary?
The pace is lively and varied, with several destinations woven into ten days. You’ll travel by road, overnight train, domestic flight and boat, with guided sightseeing and local experiences along the way.
There are also gentler moments built in: an evening aboard the Ha Long Bay cruise, free time in Hanoi and a full day to explore Hoi An at your own rhythm. It’s best suited to travellers who enjoy seeing and experiencing plenty while still having space for a few unhurried discoveries.
How much should I budget for meals and extras?
Selected meals are included and shown day by day in the itinerary. You’ll need a separate allowance for meals not listed, drinks, laundry, personal purchases, tips and any optional experiences you choose.
Optional activities in the current proposal range from small museum entrance fees and a VND 150,000 kayaking experience to food tours, cultural shows and private day trips. Larger extensions to Ninh Binh or Sapa will require a separate budget.
For private touring, the proposal also lists compulsory tipping at USD 3 per person for a full-day tour and USD 1.50 per person for a half-day tour or airport transfer.
What are the accommodations like?
The journey combines city hotels in Hanoi, Hue, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City with one night aboard a Ha Long Bay cruise. You’ll also spend one night travelling by train from Hanoi to Hue, giving the itinerary a more immersive, overland rhythm.
Hotel options are available in three-, four- and five-star categories, based on twin or double occupancy. Standard check-in is approximately 2:00–3:00 pm, with check-out around 11:00 am–12:00 noon.
